    “Spiritual progress is like a detoxification. Things have to come up in order to be released.” – Marianne Williamson

    I used to resist my emotions and as a result they ran my life. I was out of control of my reactions to life because I wanted to believe that I was above having a reaction in the first place. I thought crying was a sign of pathetic weakness and if and when my angry outbursts of pure rage surfaced, obviously it was THEIR fault…

    Today I have a much gentler, softer approach to my emotions. I see them. I hear them. I honour them. I know that they are not me, but instead habitual reactions to mental loops that are like hamster wheels inside my brain. And when I stop wishing that my brain wasn’t the picture of a county fair on steroids (read: hundreds of ferris wheels going around and around but not getting anywhere) in that moment, in that space, I get to choose.

    When I stop resisting what is, I have an opportunity to create what will be.

    That’s why I’m such a proponent of practical, in the moment tools that allow you to release the emotion that has worked so hard to surface. Many scoff, lord knows I did, at some of the suggestions but the real question is – are you ready to let go of your suffering? Because what I do know is that as soon as you’re ready, willingness is close behind and a willingness to do it differently is all you need.

    Are you ready? Let’s talk: Pop me a note….

    One Response to Get off the Ferris Wheel

    1. Newton’s Third Law, baby! “For every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction.”

      Resistance = more resistance.

      Thank you for the reminder! xo
