Simply put, responsibility is your ability to respond. Too often I hear people placing blame or complaining about people, circumstances or situations in their life that they have used as ‘excuses’ for why they are not happy and/or getting what they want out of their life. The reality is that you don’t have control over anything or anyone except yourself. That’s a pretty amazing concept when you really truly grasp it and make a commitment to yourself that you will do whatever it takes to ensure that you have the ability to respond to your life.
If you’ve ever been envious of someone else, ask yourself, what’s really going on here? Usually, you are recognizing a desire of yours that you have not taken responsibility to achieve. It’s not their fault that you don’t have it – it’s your fault. If you want something in your life, take responsibility for getting it. If you need to develop a skill set, meet a person, gain knowledge, gain resources in order to receive whatever you want – go do it! If you want to be an actor, but, have never acted, go take a course, read a book, introduce yourself to an actor and ask them to mentor you – DON’T blame your parents for not recognizing your talent!
Get what you want out of your life by taking responsibility for ever aspect of it. It’s all up to you!
